Initially developed for multimedia PC applications, M-JPEG is now used by video-capture devices such as digital cameras, IP cameras, webcams, and non-linear video editing systems. No interframe compression is performed, and the resulting encoded data generally does not achieve the same compression level as a codec using interframe techniques. MJPEG is a sub-category of motion video codecs where successive frames are encoded using the standard JPEG algorithm. Like most modern container formats, it allows streaming over the Internet. MPEG-4 Part 14 or MP4 is a digital multimedia format most commonly used to store video and audio and store other data such as subtitles and still images.
